margaretheadFROGBOYS.COM IS THE MENTAL-STATUS REPORT of Margaret Roach of A Way to Garden dot com, Mother of the Frogboys and Chief Frog Handler, who lives in rural New York State with a recalcitrant cat and a lot of (surprise!) frogs. Her collaborator, blogger and fictionista Anastasia Smith, is Lead Frogboy Stylist, Groomer to Celebrity Frogs, and basically operates every app that Margaret is too old to figure out. It is truly A Partnership Supreme (sorry to torture the vintage Coltrane riff that we love so).

annaheadshotIf we explained how these two genetically unrelated women are actually eternally related it would exhaust you, and us, so hey, just enjoy those sexy frogs up top and out front on the homepage, why don’t you?

Thanks.

*The End.*

Dear Chicks,
How about a contest to translate the frog haiku? Or maybe a page dedicated to original frog haikus?

Dear Margaret and Anastasia:

I love your site! Just wanted to let you know that Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Mass., will be exhibiting the frogtastic traveling show, Frogs–A Chorus of Colors, from June 13 through November 1, 2009. Please come visit!

All the best,

Hi Kimberly, we’ll be the chicks in green, oohing and aahhing over every webbbed foot. Thanks for the heads up, and see you there!

I receive “A Way to Garden,” and while going through the last issue, I stumbled upon The Frogboys! I am a hard core frog fan and am very excited about this. Already, after just a few minutes, I’ve found pictures, videos, all sorts of facts …

I immediately sent the URL to one of my friends because he too is a fan.

Thanks so much for this!

Diane

Hi Margaret and Anastasia,

Just wanted to introduce you to my beloved Clyde, who found his way to our little 3×5 foot “pond” in our townhouse background (from heaven only knows where) about 5 years ago. He stayed for over three years and then was gone. I’d like to think he found a bigger pond (or a girlfriend?). I have no idea how long frogs live, so he could have been quite ancient. He was such a cutie. When we would have garden parties, the chatter would start to get louder and he would start croaking (either in protest or in an attempt to join in the discussion). My Michael imported another frog a few weeks ago but he didn’t stick around too long since we haven’t seen him since. I think importing tadpoles might be the answer.

Sorry to hear that your frogboys exodus!

Love both your blogs, by the way!

Welcome, Cindy, and thanks for the info on Clyde, an adult green frog. My greens are still with me, but all my bullfrogs except one first-year have gone off. :( Green frogs can live up to 10 years in captivity; scientists estimate maybe 6 in the wild. See you soon again we hope.

Did you know that frogs love to have you sing to them, they hear very well!!!! One summer day, as i sat sipping a glass of fresh herbal ice tea, i saw a grackle come to the edge of our pond, he was hopping around the rocks, looking for the perfect spot to take a sip, and all of a sudden there was a splash and furry of motion, seems one of my most handsome bull frogs had taken the grackle, down under. Yes, i was sitting there with my mouth hanging open, i went to fetch my partner mumbling about the frog, the bird, as we came back out to the pond, up came the bird, not looking too good, he was dead. If any frog lover out there have had such an experience, please, share. off to serenade

Margaret,

I can’t wait to show this site to the boys. Especially Finn. I know we will spend at least an hour talking about frogs and swapping great stories.

Thanks!!

So glad to hear from you, Erika. Sorry not to have more “fresh” frogs to show off right now…we are hunkered down with lots of projects here at “headquarters” and the frogs are underwater, sleeping, More to come…
